I am fairly new to Zazzle and am having a bit of a freak-out!
I’ve uploaded PNG files using both white and transparency in my designs. They show up correctly when viewed under ‘my images’ (both whites and transparency appear). When placed in a design however, white shows up as transparent in my product preview even though I’ve specifically unchecked ‘show whites in image as transparent’ under ‘advanced options’.
Can someone please tell me if my design will print differently than my preview reflects? And if so how will customers know what my design really looks like?!
If anyone could help me I would sincerely appreciate it – I have spent several weeks creating designs and was very excited about getting started before I discovered this problem!
Crying
Thank you again!

What products are you putting them on? There is no white ink. Dark shirts have a think white underlayer on them to make all of the ink to show up on them, so white does show there, but the white is not ink, but that part is transparent so it's the underlayer that you see.

I am sorry - I am still confused...
I was placing them on clothing (shirts) to begin with. I don't mind if an underlayment shows up in areas I intended to be white (as long as it's close to white), I just don't want a dark color to show up in both transparent areas and areas that are white in my design. (Sorry - I hope I'm making sense - I sincerely appreciate your help)!

All white in your design is considered transparent on all light and white apparel.

Which is fine... it's the colors / dark apparel I'm concerned about.
If I put a design on, say, an orange shirt I want the transparent areas in that design to let the orange shirt show through... I don't want white areas appear to be orange, though.
Is it possible this only shows up incorrectly in an in-progress item preview (even if that progress has been saved)? Perhaps the preview will be updated when the item is actually finished / posted? Maybe I should try that?

Oh - okay.
I just tried putting my designs on 'Dark' colors and the whites do show up there just as you said. I guess that's just not an option on lighter colors.
Thank you very, very much for your help, Artsy Fartsy Maz - I thought that I was doing something wrong (in the options, etc.)!
I sincerely appreciate your putting up with my silliness!

Someone else solved their problem with whites not showing by making them slightly off-white.
You might try that.

Heres a question.... if white can be printed on a black shirt why not on any other color shirt? same process diffrent color shirt Idea
...Yes I understand there is no white ink, but there is white under-layment hence black garments.

The white underlayment on dark shirts is a thick ink that is prone to cracking (as I understand it - I may be wrong on this). On the light shirts without the underlayment, the ink is fused to the material and there is no cracking of the inks - therefore no flaking of the design.

One can use an off-white color (cream, tan, yellow -ish) to simulate white on the dark shirts.

It also takes longer to manufacture dark apparel. Light apparel is manufactured and ready to ship in 24 hours. Because of the process, dark apparel takes 3-5 days to manufacture. A design on a dark shirt costs $5 more than on the same shirt of a light color.
