For monogram text on bagettes bag (wristlet) I can't combine main text and shading text into one template. When I select both text boxes and check make this a template object, they do not stay together in one template. It automatically makes two template boxes (text 1 and text 2) instead of combining them into one text template. Here is an example of when it works where I combined two text into one text box on a stamp: http://www.zazzle.com/initial_monogrammed_art_spiral_postage-172005927317249504This will not work on the bagettes bag. Hope you can fix, for it adds a special touch to have the shaded text. Thanks, Kati

Will it let you name them both Text1 separately?
Steve.

Thanks, I didn't try that Steve. Will give it a try.
I did label them by color and thought that might work (purple text, yellow text), however, when I posted the product and checked it there were multiple text boxes (none of the ones I changed had been deleted). Something like 10 text templates with text 1,2,3,4,5,6, etc. So I deleted the product.

I'm trying to remember a strange episode I had recently where I had a number of text boxes where I may have used 'copy and paste' I think, I had a real struggle trying to name them as it seemed to be auto changing them in the background - I think I may eventually have un-set them as templates, then re-set them all one by one.
Steve.

Hmmmm, that sparks a memory about reading something in another thread about odd things happening when using copy & paste with text. Will start over and see what happens.
Thanks, Kati

I've been noticing the same issue for a while. If you make the first text box a template and then copy and paste it I believe that it will remain text1, but if you wait until after you've made the text and the shadow text then you have to rename them both text1 separately. Also if you delete your first template the new one you make will be text2 for some reason. That's how you can end up with multiple text templates in the finished product. It seems best just to start over at that point.

When creating bag designs with the same image both sides, I found that if I added an image, used Edit > Copy, switched sides, then Edit > Paste, the url parameter and name stays the same, I like it this way as I don't have to change it.
I think on some items it used to name the pasted image something else, and then I would have to change the url parameters to all match.
It seems that if I add some text, make it a template, use the Edit menu to Copy and Paste, the new text seems to have to same labels as the first one. I'm not sure if this has always been the case, but I like it!
However, it seems that odd things can happen sometimes if you try change it. I did this: - go to create page for a plain white mug. - click 'skip this step' - add a word of text - make it a template (default names of "Text 1", "text1") - edit > copy, edit > paste - on the new pasted text, change label to "Hi", and url parameter to "hi" - first text no longer seems to be a template.
If i have several text fields, I sometimes don't make any a template until they are all added, then change them all to templates individually just before posting.

Keeping the URL parameters and the names the same works as said above.
Doing an edit>copy>paste for the text used to keep the text name the same, then Zazzle changed it so it would rename itself in sequence.
Recently they've changed it back.
Handy, but if it gets messed up, it is best to start over!

Well I've given up on the shading text. I cannot get the shading and the main text to be in one template. Think the customer would be confused when shading is a separate template. To bad because adding the shading or highlighting to text makes it stand out more and it looks more professional sometimes.
Thanks everyone for your input. Kati

When I feel a need to start over, I try just make everything not be a template, then make them a template again. anuradesignstudio wrote:I cannot get the shading and the main text to be in one template. I just did a quick test on a wristlet for how I would do this... 1- click 'skip this step' on the pop up box 2- add text that says "sample text 1111" 3- make it a template (default names of "Text 1", "text1") 4- add text that says "sample text 2222" 5- make it a template (default names of "Text 2", "text2") 6- add text that says "sample text 3333" 7- make it a template (default names of "Text 3", "text3") 8- highlight the first line of text in the list, that says "sample text 1111" 9- use 'edit' drop down menu (just above the list of text elements) to copy, then use the 'edit' menu again to paste a new line of text that should have the same settings as the first line. 10- repeat the steps 8 & 9 for the other 2 lines of text Hope thats helpful

Thanks everyone for your input. Kati I just did some of these and they work fine. I'll try to be concise in my explanation. The easy way to do this is: 1. Add your first text element 2. Select that text and make it a template. It will say Text 1 with the url of text1. 3. Copy and paste that text element. It should retain the name Text 1 and url of text1. For both text elements to be in the same template field they must have the same name and url parameters. 4. Select the shadow text element and slightly move it to the side and down.
