Wow! What a resource this thread is. I admit that I do feel intimidated when it comes to learning new programs. I've done everything with Photoshop Elements, twisting it to my will. I've copied all these links and will check out these programs. I'm downloading DazStudio now (talk about intimidating-looking, Shocked ).

A thousand thanks. Love

Cheers,
Marian

I wonder when these spam posts by ***SPAM***.net will be removed?
They've been here a while now and are quite annoying in a thread which is meant to be helpful.

Steve.

I'll report them again. We report spammers in the bronze forum.

There is another wonderful free fractal generator which I use and I do not find anyone using it or mentioning it in the thread here so far !
Incendia
I made these with it !

and here is the link for the program
http://www.incendia.net/

so go check it out and have fun it is a 3d fractal generator and you can precisely alter the surface color and finish or textures of what you create !

Read the wiki pages tutorials on how to use it to start and If you need help with it the develpoper and more of his lovely works he creates with it can be found here

Anyone who uses (or wants to try) Linux should have a look at ArtistX here;
http://www.artistx.org
It's a full Ubuntu based OS packed with multimedia software for 2D graphics, 3D work, and also Audio & Video.
As with many Linux distributions it's a 'Live DVD', which means you can try it out without installing it; put the disc in your drive and re-boot your computer to run it directly from the DVD.

Anyone looking for a free alternative to Lightroom etc., for processing RAW files from digital cameras should have a look at Raw Therapee, you can read about and get it here;
http://rawtherapee.com/
It's available for Windows, Mac and Linux.
It's also available for the Portable Apps platform I've mentioned elsewhere in this thread.

Steve.

EDIT: Raw Therapee can also be used to process standard image formats in addition to raw files

These are two free tools I came across that can be useful to shopkeepers:

The first is a colour scheme generator that you can use to come up with matching and cohesive colours for your store.You choose a primary colour that you wish to use and the generator will suggest three other colours that will look good alongside it.You can enter in a specific Hex code or have fun and click on the spinning wheel you see.Then you can use the colours suggested for your page background, side pod colours,links etc.

http://www.2createawebsite.com/build/hex-colors.html

The second freebie is an embossing tool that allows you to make embossed labels for your shop.Just enter in your text,choose from 4 different colours and 4 pixel sizes.Here's one I did in red at 60 pixels:

Please note that while the embossing tool is free,you can't put the labels you make on your products for sale on any POD site like this one.You can use the labels in your shop for things like banners,category thumbnails etc.This is stated in the terms of use here:

http://www.fuzzimo.com/about/

These are the links to the generator:
