I've been trying to figure out for a while what the purpose of adding descriptions to images (when you click on them in "My Images") and category descriptions. Are these spaces used by the search engines like the tags and whatnot, or is it just for personal use?

Thanks!

I'm not sure whether search engines can see them or not, maybe Zazzles own can(???), but I do know that when a title and description is added to the image in the image basket it is then automatically applied to any products created when using Quick Create...this can obviously be overwritten if necessary.

Maybe that's what the image descriptions are for, the Quick Create. No wonder I didn't know, I've never used it.

I have to laugh, I don't use QC all the time but after answering this thread I did use it in one of my stores this evening...and what d'ya know, it didn't apply the above mentioned to the products I created; I had to go and do copy/paste from my image basket LOL Laughing Laughing Laughing

Isn't that always the way....well apply everything I said in past tense and all will be well. Crying

If it's not going to do that anymore, I'm not sure it even has a purpose Laughing Laughing Laughing

or maybe it's just a bug and it's supposed to, or maybe it was a bug and it wasn't supposed to but did Idea Stick out tongue

I've never understood the what the description for images is for. I believe the marketplace search picks up on keywords in your product descriptions (which should include a description of the image). And search engines will read the text on the finished product page, so both the product and category descriptions should contain relevant keywords.

Specialeetees I noticed that too! Sometimes it fills it in and sometimes it doesn't. I have been switching between Safari and Firefox so maybe that's part of it?

It's a cool feature when it works!
