Ok I have a question for those who use Paint Shop Pro Photo x2, I just recently found out the dpi need to be 300 for stamps etc Sad , I am planning on just making all products in 300 dpi to avoid the issue with changing back and forth for other products with a lower dpi requirement. My question is in PSP - I created picture tubes in 200 dpi, do I need to change all picture tubes to 300 now?? or will the ones at 200 dpi still work for creating postage stamps??

Also I have realized all the pictures I want to use were saved in 250 dpi, will that be a problem when creating stamps or tubes ?? Can the dpi on the original picture be changed to 300 without causing a problem for printing on products here?

Any advice would be greatly appreciatedGrin

The DPI setting on image editing software is not reliable.

What you have to be concerned with is the size of the image in pixels. DPI does not exist until the image is printed.

So for an 12x14 shirt design, to get 300 dpi your size in pixels needs to be 3600 x 4200 (12 x 300, 14 x 300).

For a 20x30 poster at 300 dpi, your image size should be 6000 x 9000 pixels.

You just multiply the print size by desired DPI to obtain the correct size in pixels.

Thank you so much for replying! I am following you on the dpi size of 300 and pixel size for the picture and that the dpi doesn't exist until printed... let me see if I got this right for a 5 x 7 card the pixel size would need to be 1500 x 2100 for 300 dpi correct?? Does that mean the card template sizes on that page are wrong??

Ok ,I have another question... this is what I did I opened a new blank image in PSP with the pixel size of 1000 x 1400 (zazzle card size template here) and set the ppi at 300 before I opened the new image, I created my card and saved it in that size and dpi in png format and then uploaded it. I was thinking that if I create my products in the size zazzle states on their page below in 300 dpi that they will print in great quality, since it says resolution size will be maintained and it will print at a higher resoltuion??? Am I reading that correctly? And is the 150 dpi formula on that help page for all items or just the apparel??

Zazzle Image Size help page
<Cards

300ppi

* Greeting Card (vertical): 1000 x 1400 pixels = 5" x 7"
* Greeting Card (horizontal): 1400 x 1000 pixels = 7" x 5"
* Note Cards (vertical): 800 x 1120 pixels = 4" x 5.6"
* Note Cards (horizontal): 1120 x 800 pixels = 5.6" x 4"

If your image is smaller than the maximum sizes, there will be some extra "white space" that will not be printed.

If your image is bigger than the maximum sizes, it will automatically be scaled down to the maximum size. The resolution of the image will be maintained, so it will actually be printed at a higher resolution than the standard for the particular product being designed.

1500 x 2100 is correct since 5 x 300 = 1500 and 7 x 300 = 2100.
The Zazzle guidelines are showing the correct sizes for 200 dpi printing.

What the ppi setting is set to doesn't matter. You only need to design your image at the correct size in pixels.

Print size in inches x 300 dpi = size in pixels.

So , if that is true, then the template that I down loaded from zazzle for the 5 x 7 card which is 1000 x 1400 is the wrong size and I will have to redesign them again at 1500 x 2100 even though I set the 1000 x 1400 image size of the pictures PPI not dpi at 300??? Crying
