Not a dumb question at all! Knowing the hexadecimal code for colors allows you to have more options for background and font colors. In the drop down box where you choose your background or font color there is a little tiny text area in the bottom right corner that contains the hex # of the color you're selecting - but you can change that to any valid hex code, even if they're not offered in Zazzles drop down box. So knowing more hex codes gives you more flexibility to choose just the right color for your font or background.

Very nice color chart Zizzago. However, it is important to keep in mind that these are mostly web colors and not print colors. It is easy to create colors on your monitor that cannot be reproduced in print. For example when I checked out the PeachPuff FFDAB9, it will probably print out in the FeD5BA color range. which is a bit darker and not as bright. Some programs, like photoshop and gimp, can help you convert web color to print color. Here is a good article about understanding monitor vs. printer colors: http://www.designworksoregon.com/pages/web_design_colors.htmlI've had some disappointing results, or colors that I had not expected on the printed product. Especially with red and true blues. Every printing press is different too, so what a color comes out on a shirt may be a bit different on an iPad case or greeting card, etc. Just some food for thought. Kati

I'm a bit confused when it comes to web colours v print colours. When I want a background for an image, I pick one of the colours already in the image, grab the hexadecimal code for that colour (using Photoshop) and then set that as the background when designing the product. Does that sound like a reasonable way of making sure the background will suit the image when printed?

There's a Firefox tool that will be quicker than opening Photoshop however: Colorzilla. Another source for color names is Wikipedia, but you have to go color by color (as far as I know).
